Proteins In our diet

Proteins consist of amino acids. In short, the amino acids are the basic structural components. In total there are 20 amino acids, which occur in various combinations with each other. Eight of these amino acids must be engaged in our diet because our bodies can not synthesize them. For this reason also called "essential" amino acids: valine, leucine, isoleucine, threonine, methionine, phenylalanine, tryptophan, lysine.

The proteins taken from the animal and vegetable kingdom. Animal proteins have a higher biological value than vegetable proteins. This is due to different amounts of essential amino acids they contain. This difference in composition, but has the advantage that the basic amino acids present in animal and vegetable foods complement each other so as to achieve even higher biological value.
