Dried beans and peas (legumes) and nuts can be a source of protein and most vitamins and minerals worthy of meat. However, there are some significant differences between plant and animal proteins.
Adequate protein in the diet of an athlete, whether or not to eat meat, usually need not worry us. For example, about a rate equal to 21-25% of caloric energy pulses of calories from protein, while in soybean the figure is 34%. There is a restriction on the protein quality of most legumes. With the exception of soy, legumes do not contain all the essential amino acids that the human body needs to manufacture enough proteins.
